The Simpsons via Analogue Pocket
Am I seriously almost the same age as Homer fucking Simpson
Jesus Christ
I don’t like this ride
How do I stop it
If it makes you feel any better you’re older than the parents from Rugrats too.
They don’t look that old. Just dated. Homer looks fifty.
Yeah but that makes sense. It makes me mad that I’m the same age as the cast of Seinfeld though.
You had me wondering their ages and how old they were supposed to be. Apparently it’s a mystery.
I am shocked the actor for George was 29. I think I always thought of them as in their 40’s at the time it was on TV.

I know right? Like I’m 33 how the fuck am I older than George fucking costanza.
But yeah I just went by the actors age at the time of each season.
And now that I think about it, he went on a lot of dates.
And that mother fucker didn’t even have tinder
He had a -1 in charisma, but nut rolled like crazy.
I remember being younger than Bart. Now I’m older than Homer. Next stop: Abe.
Fuck
@CrunchyBoy @Cruxifux
Just tell yourself you’re older than Hans Moleman.
Press any key to stop.
Where’s the any key?
THEY FORGOT THE ANY KEY!!
Useless tidbit: Marge has bunny ears when she gets shocked in that dream level. This is because an idea Matt had was that Marge was going to be a rabbit, hiding the ears in her hair.
How have you been liking the dock so far? I’ve been pretty hesitant to pull the trigger on it given its price (or rather given shipping and duties/taxes to add on top, hu).
(Also, interesting way to stand up the - I’m guessing modded? - OG Xbox vertically, haha)The dock is ok, just wish it had more scaling and resolution options (I wanted to use it with the smaller display but that resolution is not 1080, so it looks too squished). It also lacks a lot in controller support. Otherwise it works well and does the job.
Yep it’s the vertical stand from RetroFrog (model is on printables). And yes modded 1.1 og Xbox with 128mb ram, XboxHd+, and Stellar mod chip.
Yeah, it’s pretty clear the Dock is only made for 16:9 displays, unfortunately :/
I’m not extremely hopeful Analogue will patch in enough features/fixes to make it absolutely worth it, as they don’t have a great track record with their “accessories” (the under-saturation of the DAC’s Composite/S-Video output not being directly fixed after so many years does not make me hopeful tbh).Really nice setup :) I’ve been looking at the OG Xbox from afar, as the Series X is my first Xbox, so I have much to catch up on, but I’m really happy with the - admittedly very incomplete - backwards compatibility so far.
There are so many awesome devices to experience classic games on now its mind blowing. Wasn’t aware of this one. Like that it has a docking station for big screen play.
If you are looking for a cheap handheld the RG35XX has micro HDMI port and handles up to PSX pretty good.
That said a surprising amount of devices have video out. Even the RG350, a relatively early device in the emulation scene, has video out.
I got an Rg35xxx about a month ago and it has been fantastic!! I didn’t replace the stock OS as a lot of folks suggested because the stock one already has everything that I need it to do. If I had one complaint, it would be that the battery isn’t great. I haven’t had it die on me while out and about yet, but it can cut it close. Overall, I highly recommend it for someone into retrogaming old gameboy advanced -ish era games.
You may want to try playing it until it dies. I think various firmwares, including the official one, have had issues accurately displaying the battery level.
Yeah it’s a really nice handheld. It’s Fpga based that can play from carts and the screen is gorgeous for GB and SNES.
What do you think of it? I know a lot of people end up playing ROMs on them anyway so I’ve really had trouble understanding all the hype
I’m very happy with it. Most of the time I use roms on the SD card but the screen and original form factor are great for GB games. Certain games I use the cartridge for the display modes. The DMG filter is amazing, it even replicates the ghosting on the original system.
If you’re a Gameboy enthusiast, you’ll love the device and the bonus of playing other systems and arcade games is icing on the cake. Otherwise, a cheaper handheld or a steam deck would be a better option.
I’ve used a range of emulation focused handhelds in the past with the latest being the RG35XX but the filters of the Analogue Pocket do sound nice
I got my pocket in the first wave of releases, but I held off on the dock until earlier this year. My dock arrived a few days ago and I love it.
After using modded Gameboys and various emulators, the pocket is my favorite hand held. I still prefer the form factor ofa Gameboy micro, but the pocket’s screen can’t be beat.
The dock is a nice way to top access those same games on a big screen, but I don’t think the pocket is the best option if you only want to play on a tv.
Analogue Pocket looks awesome. But I wish they have a version without cartridge support to make the device cost a bit less.
I don’t think that would change the price much. The slot itself is probably only a few pennies and you can’t get cheaper FPGAs without reducing the cores the device is capable of playing. Adding another SKU would just make it more expensive and harder to stock.
Makes sense. But somehow it hurts to buy such a device when I don’t have cartridges :(
