Big fan of SBC gaming, open source engine recreations/source ports, gaming in general, alternative operating systems, and all things modding.
Trying to post and comment often in an effort to add to Lemmy’s growth.
Same. It feels like they’re trying to make up for the past couple years and it leads to things feeling a bit forced and dated as far as I’m concerned
Are you referring to how to repair a console with original parts?
Maybe the logistics of it like how to source parts in a way that’s not going to be outrageously expensive?
I’d say it depends what you want to play and what you can get. It might not be a bad move considering you could use it with other devices if you want
It seems like Family Link on Android might be what you are looking for
I think devices that use something like Emulation Station can only limit certain games and menu options but that still leave devices like the Retroid Pocket 3+. Anything that runs PC games should have it’s own suite of parental features or work arounds.
Totally get it. The biggest reason I would encourage someone to hardmod is a failing disc drive can cause the console not to boot. You don’t need a disc drive with a hardmod and buying an additional console is cheaper typically then buying just a replacement disc drive.
You don’t need to hardmod it to be able to play backups. There’s some softmod methods that work well and removing the clock capacitor that has a habit of leaking and eating through the board is as easy as opening up the console and wiggling it out. You don’t need to replace it on most models.
Whole process can be done in an afternoon. I’d check out MrMario2011’s video to see how challenging it is though to get a feel for it
With the Simpsons I feel like I need to watch it years after the episodes come out so I don’t feel how dated they are
Yeah the crypto episode really felt like it was a bit late to the party
I wonder if this is still the case and how much of the original staff is still there
Yeah it kind of feels like they wanted to cram in a lot of cultural references that happened the last couple years to make up for lost time
Is this the order I should watch the show in?
Yeah it’s a great feature when traveling abroad without a data package
Yeah I was pleasantly surprised by the graphics and how smooth the controls were for a FPS on a DS
I’ve been playing Moon on my 3DS. It’s been a fair amount of fun but I don’t know how memorable the story will be
You may want to try playing it until it dies. I think various firmwares, including the official one, have had issues accurately displaying the battery level.
I’ve used a range of emulation focused handhelds in the past with the latest being the RG35XX but the filters of the Analogue Pocket do sound nice
If you are looking for a cheap handheld the RG35XX has micro HDMI port and handles up to PSX pretty good.
That said a surprising amount of devices have video out. Even the RG350, a relatively early device in the emulation scene, has video out.
What do you think of it? I know a lot of people end up playing ROMs on them anyway so I’ve really had trouble understanding all the hype
Good write up. I imagine most people interested in iPods know about him but for those that don’t DankPods has a lot quality entertaining videos on modding iPods.
Here’s his 1tb iPod video.
Is it as loud as it seems in the video?
