It had some pretty funny moments, and the universe being trapped in an ever expanding warehouse is pretty Futurama, but I was pretty disheartened when I saw the name of the episode and when I saw it was just about Amazon. I hope not all of them are current event things.
It kinda feels like it could just be set in current times. They’re not really using the fact it’s in the future for any gags in this series, although i suppose Fry has been there so long it’s going to be difficult to make it work.
They did a ton of current events humor/episodes over the years. There’s constant pop culture references that won’t land with anyone born past 2000s in the older episodes, characters, etc. It’s always been part of the show.
But it wasn’t so often the central theme of the episode. We’ve had 4 out of 5 stories based purely around current events.
Considering the “Explovid-23” virus we saw in the season teaser, you’ve got at least one more that is.
I liked this one, although I suspect it may not always age well
I love the way the John DiMaggio can ‘sell’ even a corny, predictable line.
“I don’t have to…”
This and the bitcoin episode makes me think they wrote all these back in 2014-2018 and could just now produce them. They really need to stop trying to be South Park.
For me, it was the first funny episode of this new season. I’m not disappointed anymore.
The other day I ordered a small item. Sure enough, huge box and 1 piece of inflatable plastic. Such a waste. Definitely identified with the scene where Bender is being taught how to package items.
Was a decent episode. Definitely more enjoyable than the previous one for me at least.
