In regards to unmasking the Breen and removing the mystery, I think back to the words of Spock: “After a time, you may find that having is not so pleasing a thing after all as wanting.”

the finest moment in an already immaculate piece of television is all about the ways to enact violence without lifting a single finger
Rude. Garek worked really hard on that plan.
I’m pretty sure the darkest ST episode was Enterprise’s Rogue Planet.
You can’t see a thing!
Those looks kind of small. You might lose them unless you make a screw holder holder.
Me personally? I’m going to back away slowly without giving him my name.
I almost feel like you’re describing the Trill or the Tokra regarding willing assimilation.
He’s just trying to protect his culture from a bunch of son worshipping weirdos.
The cheese had very little character development compared to Jake.
DS9 is much tonally darker. It still feels fairly modern in presentation. The show pushes and prods at the utopian Star Trek ideals. There is character growth among the main characters, and overarching stories especially in the last few seasons.
It’s not fully grimdark, and has some of the best interactions and humor in Trek, but the setting is a post-military occupation planet. It doesn’t handwave away the lingering issues.
The cast and characters are great. Easily the best reoccurring show villains in DS9.
No poweruser, no moderator, can hold an imprisoned meme source by force of arms forever. There is no greater power in the universe than the need for memes. Against that power, governments and tyrants and armies cannot stand. The online polls learned this lesson once. We will teach it to them again. Though it take a thousand years, we will be free.
Even the movie being en media res is a retcon.
A New Hope was not called “Episode 4” until its re-release in 1981. Before then it was released and packaged as a stand alone story.
T’Pol is only interested in eating wall insulation.
Did you know that eventually Voyager’s EMH was able to achieve holographic rights? In doing so, his fellow EMH’s were released from dilithium mining, core scrubbing, and other degrading tasks.
Fortunately Starfleet was able to fill these lowly but needed roles by using transporter technology to duplicate Harry Kim thousands of times. It was considered a highly ethical solution by the project manager, one Admiral Janeway.
And, technically, the backup copy of the Doctor in ‘Living Witness’ wasn’t the “prime” Doctor.
Also he played the evil android version of the Doctor in the same episode.
You forgot the episode ‘Body And Soul’ where Picardo acted as Seven acting like the Doctor had taken over her body.
I bet you didn’t even realize it was Picardo.
That is painfully accurate.
I still vividly remember when I was young that my dad blamed any and all computer problems on the fact that I downloaded Steam on the family PC. Couldn’t possibly be because of the 20 “free” “antivirus” programs he downloaded.
When my dad had a desktop, for some reason beyond my comprehension, he’d seemingly download every toolbar offered to him. Opening up his internet browser on desktop and literally half of the screen was just toolbars.
He also insisted that I not touch it because he needed them.
Interesting universe and premise. It’s got noticeably lower production value than comparable Trek, but it’s decent for the first season and a half.
Robert Hewitt Wolfe, a writer who had worked on Deep Space 9 was the producer for the first season and a half. In the middle of the second season Sorbo and the network teamed up to push him out, and retooled the show to be much dumber and more actiony. It takes an immediate and embarrassing nosedive after that.
If you watch it, a good time to stop is when Trance Gemini turns from purple to gold colored.
Say what you will about the Borg collective, but at least it’s an ethos.
