iirc there was a short time where the apps were published by default once the compatibility layer was in place. i definitely used the feature to make my app work across the whole product line, but there were a couple of things that were broken on macos that i had to put in fixes or workarounds. that might explain why more developers haven’t released their ios apps on mac.

i use Ghostery, works on Mac Safari also. Free and does the job

what you’re also ignoring is stuff like time cost. for a certain person, the time spent to find and research a reliable alternative at a lower price point might be worth more than $10 or $20.

I’ve never heard of such a thing. It would be like a combination file explorer and image viewer. Perhaps you could build it yourself, I don’t think it would be too difficult.
