Atari® — one of the world’s most iconic consumer brands and interactive entertainment producers — announced today it has purchased the Intellivision brand and certain games from Intellivision Entertainment LLC. Intellivision Entertainment LLC will rebrand and continue its business of developing and distributing the Amico brand game console with a license from Atari to continue to distribute new versions of the Intellivision games on the Amico console.

Atari will seek to expand digital and physical distribution of legacy Intellivision games, potentially create new games, and explore brand and licensing opportunities as part of a long-term plan to create value from the Intellivision properties.

Oh shit, Talarico and friends are still pretending Amico will be a thing, but now they won’t even own the brand they were supposed to resurrect anymore.

Amazing they can keep that show going on. I guess they can still pretend people who left a decade ago are still working for them.

I would hope whatever team was behind the new Earthworm Jim would get to keep working on it for real consoles/PC, but probably no…

From everything I’ve read, most of the “devs” haven’t done any actual work on the game past the initial brainstorming session. The “demo” video shown was just a mock-up.

I mean I’m not surprised since everything relating to the Amico seems to be lies and vaporware, but it’s still disappointing.

That’s good. Maybe they’ll release a new console like the Atari one they made not too long ago.

    1. I didn’t even know Intellevision still existed
    2. Imagine seeing this headline back in the swinging psychadelic 70’s… That’s like hearing “Nintendo has bought Sega” in the 90’s, or “Microsoft has bought Sony” today (Though dang I’d love for Steam to buy Epic, then we can play Unreal Tournament again! Wait… is there a GOG verison, I never checked)
