So, let’s say I have a mesh exported as a DAE file. Might be from a 3D scanner, might be from some photogrammetry using my quadcopter. I want to take measurements. Maybe put a plane through a house roof based on three points and then measure the angle towards the ground. Something like that.

I’ve found that Zeiss Inspect might be the tool of choice, however that feels very much geared towards industrial users with deep pockets and might disappear at any time, at least for free. Is there anything else you use for these cases?

    Assuming scaling isn’t an issue in import, blender is capable of something this simple with its measurement tool

    Using the vertex snapping tool you can drag a ruler from point A to B, then drag the middle of the line to point C and it will display the angle between the CA and CB vectors
