Unreal Tournament 99 and Everquest. But those don’t even come close to needing a fraction of the hardware you procured :D

99% morons, that’s why…
I think it’s available somewhere as abandonware, maybe on games of gold? Otherwise: PM me (on vacation, might take a while to respond)
you are welcome - I have had a similar valuable suggestion here, hearing for the first time about a Duke3D mod: Alien Armageddon - this thread has been quite rewarding so far :)
VR is not for me. The technology can’t replace good storytelling, and HL2 sucked at that compared to HL1, sadly. It was still okay-ish but nowhere near as stellar as HL1. Also, VR is locked to expensive hardware with most drivers limited to the bloatware shitty windows. No thanks.
one game I didn’t see in the whole thread: A story about my uncle While not necessarily my pick, that game is beautiful storytelling and I recommend it to everyone.
Lanys T’Vyl, later Antonius Bayle, then p1999. I loved that world and community to bits (despite the trolls).
Crossfire is silly difficult to begin though. I am still stuck in the early missions :)
Indie 4 is on steam? <3 I wish they had that movie instead of the stupid “we don’t talk about it” fridges protect you from atomic bombs one. Also, I wanted to ship a big-screen Sophia Hapgood!
MM3 - I loved that so much, we built our own MM3-based engine to walk around in such a landscape & had a map editor. Too bad as teens we didn’t have the endurance to finish the adventure game based on that that we were dreaming of.
published VR only, and - from Valve of all companies: Windows only!! F*ck them for that :(
Have you checked out Unreal Tournament 99? Also has a fly-through of a building, and boy that game was awesome and still is.
!!! How did I never hear about https://www.moddb.com/mods/duke-nukem-alien-armageddon ??? Thank you so much for mentioning that! Once I get home from vacation, I know what to do!
Not the same. Everquest was less “user friendly” and left you with way more stuff to figure out and / or using online resources, and printed(!) maps in the first years. Also, a lot of raid content that was absolutely not 2-3 groupable when it came out - talk about coordinating 40+ players. Then, quite unforgiving in terms of corpse runs, and originally no instanced content. It was hard(!) and we loved it for that.
My choice, but PvE ;) I only started in 2001 post Velious, but wow that game has taken me for a ride - and I have made lifelong friends through it and seen places (London, Nottingham, Copenhagen) thanks to it.
Did you play the Penultima mods? Very nicely done campaign!
I was so gutted when NWN 2 ran at only 2-3 FPS on my wine configuration - to this date I haven’t played it - so I guess I still have something to look forward to! :)
Oh, a person of taste! :) May I recommend BunnyTrack maps? I played those a lot in the 2015 timeframe and enjoyed myself immensely.
