StarTropics is back!?
When Four Swords was released, most of my friends already had their own GBA, so it wasn’t that difficult to track down a couple link cables to play. Hell, I had a GBA and a GBA SP, so it was more difficult getting everyone together that getting the hardware.
Is that the one where Bugs has a giant hammer? I remember renting that as a kid for the weekend and I beat it Friday night.
The original Mega Man is iconic for all the wrong reasons
Yup! Included a bunch of user created levels that were submitted online, and you could play multiplayer via Link cable.
Can get it on eBay for like $20, and it’s still worth it!
First game I bought for GBA. The amount of puzzles it came with was ridiculous!
Also, there’s 2 versions of GameCube. The OG run is capable of 480p via Component cables, this was removed in the later runs.
If you’re looking, that first run is the way to go.
I mained Ivy, so maybe it was just range & constant sidestepping that gave me no issues with Link.
The one universe where Link is not incredibly OP.
There was an official Nintendo Battery Pack for the Gameboy that used that side input, too. It plugged in with the same 2-prong cord that my sister’s mini boom box used.
It takes a bit of time for the controls to click, then all of a sudden you just catch a rhythm and it’s second nature.
Happened to me the first time I beat the self-destructive guy. Having to go for speed just made everything click and from that point it was all learning strategy, controlling what I wanted the game to do was no longer an issue.
Teleroboxer
First person Punch-Out! with giant robots.
I remember playing on a 3 button controller and having to press start to switch between punches and kicks.
I used to troll my friends by beating them with Chun Li only using punches!
I think I could beat the game in less time than it takes to watch this video
Since I don’t see it in here anywhere and my friends & I spent a stupid amount of time with it:
Rival Schools
I still remember the names I gave to all the symbols in Zillion to remember them as I collected them…

No one likes Kimari, lol!
Shadowgate is one of my favorites. There’s 2 more in the “series”, same style of gameplay with different storylines.
Deja Vu, a noir style PI story and The Uninvited where you’re in a haunted house. Both games will still kill you a lot though, if that’s your thing.
Holy hell I haven’t played this in decades!
There goes my productivity for the day…
