Cool, I’ll check it out
lambda is the time window over which a process is observed for determining the working memory set for a digital computer’s virtual memory management.

Why wezterm?
It’s worse that it’s at a company. But I took a CS class in college that was an intro and the teacher had a pseudo-language that we had to hand-write and turn in to him to have him grade. It still pisses me off to think about how much I would have actually liked the class if I could compile code and see things happen. I changed majors because of that class… I did end up switching back at a different school when I tried a CS class that I liked lol
It just might. That’s what I meant by firewall btw. A router is usually just three things, a firewall, a network switch, and a wireless access point. The part that handles routing to the internet (and your cloud instance) will be the firewall. I have OPNSense as my firewall with Tailscale installed on it.
Great points! I wasn’t aware of any of that. Thanks for your input! :)
Tailnet requires you to run the Tailscale client. I would bet that the Tailscale client isn’t even built to run on some/all of your IoT devices. Even if it were, I doubt many little esp devices would have the overhead to run them.
Good luck connecting all of your IoT devices to the tailnet though. You’ll need a firewall and lots of tinkering. I use linode and host some stuff in the cloud, but not Home Assistant.
I agree with you on this. Lifetime licenses are great, but not feasible for some software. Anything that needs to be constantly updated needs steady income for developers. But, if their updates don’t provide anything that you need then you should be able to keep using the version you are on for no additional money.
I’m with you. Potential memory safety is the benefit that people should care about. But, the original sudo has been around for so long that I imagine the memory safety is already pretty well hashed out. I believe that there are speed benefits to some of the random applications re-written in rust. But, I don’t see how something like sudo would have any benefit.
Never heard of discourse. I’ll look that up!
Ooooh. I like that. Thanks for sharing!
From the comments of that video someone suggested the following: Jovian-NixOS.
It looks good/promissing but it is built for Steam Deck. I would like to kind of clone the Steam Deck experience on a computer with an Nvidia graphics card and intel processor. Still reading/learning.
I have an extra PC I am considering setting up as a “console” using Linux. After a conversation in another community, it got me wanting to look into NixOS because I love the reproducibility aspect and I wouldn’t need to have may apps installed that aren’t installed through Steam. The other video I shared showed that the NixOS package for Steam isn’t updated. So, that is a worry… But, I’m still reading.
I got excited until I saw this response. Still, thanks for sharing!
Check out serverbuilds.net. They are good guides on building a good NAS with used parts from ebay. I have build at least 3 servers using their guides over the years.
Do it do it do it! 🤣
I believe the point they were making is that if you are techy enough to use nix, they are likely the type to keep up to date with news like this.
