I guess 57:57 is the same vision as 20:20! It’s just a ratio of your eyes vs good ones.
I think there’s some high quality Borg potential here where they are assimilating existing memes.
Or maybe it’s a competition where the definitely human posters have to trekkify as many memes as they can before the Borg meme squad assimilates them.
I am absolutely looking forward to it! I have been enjoying this rewatch much more than I remember liking the show years ago.
I’m at this sweet spot where I know the broad strokes but don’t remember all the details because it’s been a long time. I can anticipate stuff and see pieces falling into place, but I still get surprises here and there.
I am watching S03 E23 “Family Business” right now!
Not much of the Sisko in this one though. Heavy on Ferengi family drama.
I’m in the middle of a DS9 rewatch and I was unable to quiet his voice in my head!
Yeah there’s there tragic undertone to the whole thing as well. It showed the underclass actually standing up for themselves rather than fighting to keep inequality in place.
I just watched this episode a couple days ago. Some of it is way too applicable to current day, particularly the part about how it takes a huge tragedy for the population to realize that maybe we should make society nice for other people.
I almost had to come back and reply to myself "and now she’s throwing herself at him, of course.”
My guess is yes. Many consider it the best Star Trek. I think I agree and I’m not even to the best parts yet.
The general look & feel of it is closest to TNG, if you’ve seen much of that. It’s not as campy as the original, but you get a few moments of “look at that actor on that obvious sound stage set pretending to be an alien, lol” moments. But DS9 has more long plot arcs. I am loving the cast of characters more than I remember too.
It was your contribution to the comment count that did me in.
… oops and I’ve made it worse.
I am in my first job that’s a full-on “software engineer” title, which is a move I wanted to make. However, leading up to it I have a 20 year engineering career covering various aspects of electronics as well as software.
What I work on is C/C++ that runs the company’s main industrial product, and not some more mainstream web or app development. So it’s software work as part of a multidisciplinary team to design or improve a physical product.
So for those reasons I only think of myself as an “engineer.” But I can totally see how other jobs using similar skills would be more “software dev” or even “I’m in IT.”
I was just continuing my risa-inspired rewatch of DS9 last night, and it made me think of you all here.
I think its been a really long time since my last watch through, and the upside is that a lot of it feels fresh again, even though I know the characters and the general trajectory of the plot. I think I like this show even more already.
I’m in season 2 and just a few episodes back was “Cardassians,” wherein a Cardassian orphan living on the planet as a Bajoran sets the scene for Garak to flex all over the fucking place.
I recently finished season 1 of DS9 in my current risa-inspired rewatch. I understood that reference!
You can get cheap plastic covers that attach to the switch using the same screws that hold the plate around the switch.
They are open on one side so that you can easily get to the switch when desired.
We do smart bulbs with the covers on any switches, and the switches of course left on. Then it’s easy to do whatever brightness/colors desired with automation routines.
I remember seeing a meme like this here before. And here I am commenting again and spending more of my life on it again. :D
Well shit, now I need to go catch up on discovery. I’m not even sure where I left off!
When your mind has the power of the Borg collective, you don’t need silly inefficient structures to make it easier for the human mind to handle.
Neither spaghetti cables or spaghetti code are a hindrance when there is brutal efficiency to be had.
