Also just to be clear, everything in the sata section of your motherboard bios is irrelevant unless you’re using onboard ports for something
If everything is in the hba, you could turn off sata on your mobo if you wanted.

Not necessarily spin up, no. My experience with lsi cards is they don’t spin up the disks until the card is initialized.
If your mobo bios isn’t loading the card bios right after post and before os loading, the disks might not spin up until a driver is loaded.
I always enable the bios on mine so I’m not 100% on this, but I think this is correct.
You won’t see Drives from an hba, in your bios. Those drives aren’t plugged into a controller managed by your bios.
Do you see them if you boot into Linux and run lshw, or if you go into the bios for the controller card?
If you don’t get prompted or see the controller bios loading, you may need to enable something like “option Rom” in your normal bios.
Yes it’s really that easy. Raid in Linux is usually at the partition level, not the whole device. The bootloader resides in the first few blocks of the disk before your partitions, and isn’t included in the raid.
Use grub-install on the new disk device, ie /dev/sda
Replace one disk, let the raid rebuild. Do the same with the other disk. Do an mdadm grow, then maybe fdisk / lvm / resize fs depending on your setup. Don’t forget to install a bootloader when you put a new disk in.

Well, it’s been a long road getting from there to here…

Maybe? Tweaking my channels solved all my random drops.
It’s held in with two fairly strong magnets, I don’t think it falls off on its own. If a print falls over and catches on the extruder it could push the front off. I’ve had it happen for that reason.
Personally… I’d just have left it off if I was them. I can’t imagine a little plastic shield helps hot end temps
Context for those of us that don’t?
Played a game of bsg where the person setting up miscounted the player cards. We thought we were home free when a surprise cylon showed up and killed us all.
All the costume design has also been top notch. I really like the little details on the uniforms, like the different patterns based on the staff specialty.
As someone who moved from condo life into having a significant amount of deck plants, you just need an irrigation system and it doesn’t need to be smart.
I use the b-hyve as a water timer, it’s on my WiFi and tied into home assistant but it’s fully self sufficient on its own. It’s only job is to turn on the water. It is smart enough to not do it when it’s rained recently.
The water runs to some fat black pipe that runs around my deck, with smaller hoses plugged into it that go into the plant pots. In the pots are either drip emitters, or what’s better is an emitter hose that releases water every few inches. This is called drip irrigation and outdoor pots have holes in the bottom, so you can’t really over water. Mine runs for 20 minutes every morning at 6am and everything thrives.
Lawn care you’ll need some sprinklers or something, but before you invest make sure you look up your local regulations for water restrictions. Where I live you can’t water a lawn during peak summer, at all. Drip irrigation is always allowed because it’s very water efficient.
For All Mankind is by the same writer as ds9/bsg and is pretty entertaining. There’s some bad personal drama, but the space and alternative timeline stuff is good.

I’ve been doing their giant enterprise model and pretty happy with it so far.
I’d love if they did a ds9 or defiant
