  • O’Neill (two Ls) absolutely would not be just sitting in a bar playing darts. He’d be poking around where he should be, telling Daniel to ask his annoyingly humanitarian questions to make sure DS9 isn’t some weird hidden prison camp (anymore) and probably trying to step in to help assist against the dominion. If it’s Mitchell, above still applies but he’d also be participating. I assume it would have to be Mitchell if the Atlantis team is able to appear, but hey it’s time travel baby! Rules go byebye. Sha’re and Drey’ac could show up too.

Daniel is always translating for the group, and we only get to hear other languages spoken when Daniel has trouble translating. It’s their version of handwaving why everyone speaks English instead of handwaving as a universal translator (that wouldn’t work if you aren’t on a ship or don’t have a comm badge or are on a planet where no tech works, but everyone still understands each other anyway)

And Carter would be having so much fun trying to figure out how all the tech works, I think she would demand to see the chief engineer and science officer. Things could get weird if she’s read the Atlantis mission files yet.

And if it’s the Atlantis team showing up, they’re probably going to assume someone figured out Laiden’s plans, saved Cowen, and now they’re plotting revenge on a repurposed mining station from a long dead civilization.

Man there are so many actors that have been in both franchises, it’s hard to pick which would be the most interesting in-character interaction to see.

Jellico/O’Neill would be hilarious. The Nox could sure teach quark a thing or two. I’d love to see Q come face to face with Simmons. Teyla rounding a corner and running into Tucker would certainly be a fight worth watching.

I wonder, would Teal’c even recognize Ishta as tpol?

  • I’m glad the EMH finally settled on a name.

Richard Woolsey is pretty good. I’d probably choose a different first name, because some little blond shit with clone daddy issues might mockingly call me dick but maybe I’m just imagining things.

Would you consider “American Liason to the IOA and eventual leader of the Ancient city of Atlantis” a step up or down from Chief Medical Officer?

  • At some point, the people who run a thing no longer know what it’s about. At that time, I think it’s okay to ignore what is “official Canon”

Disney killed the entire EU to retell the same story we already saw 50 years ago. As far as I’m concerned, it’s okay to ignore that. And I say this as a fan of Mando, and kenobi.

Honestly there’s no point getting bent out of shape about it regardless of your stance on canon/not since it’s all made up anyway.

Maybe the real Canon was the profit we made along the way.

  • Well that’s what happens when you put fads and pop culture references in TV shows. They can become pretty dated pretty quick.

I mean, imagine if one of the shows were to praise someone like, oh idk Elon musk… Oh wait…

My headcannon is that like many things over the years, sports will come and go, and this is the new “retro thing that become ironically popular, then became legitimately popular again”

And the engineers just happened to discover an unused space that perfectly fit those dimensions for the lanes, and DEFINITELY didn’t make the lanes the very first consideration and design the ship around them…

  • She was absolutely between a rock and a hard place. You have a responsibility to get everyone home, but you can’t just dive straight in and strong arm your way to get there as fast as possible, both because that’s a shitty thing to do and because you’ll likely face consequences at the very least by starfleet when you get home, maybe by delta species who don’t like what you’re doing.

Honestly I don’t know a single person who has a negative thing to say about Janeway, except maybe she was too restrained sometimes.

How many of the crew, especially the Maquis, had nothing to return to and could have settled on one of the worlds they encountered? That said it’s a completely foreign society whose complications and nuances you couldn’t possibly be able to comprehend in the few weeks Voyager is within range.

Seska? I’m not aware of a crew member with that name. There was a Cardassian spy on board one of the ships, but… She’s no longer a concern.

I wholeheartedly agree with everything you said, EXCEPT that they’re not that different. I think most of the shows have a very unique tone, especially when you go from TNG to DS9, but unless I’m mistaken DS9 was intended to be “different”.

Maybe a few of the new ones are pretty similar, that’s for sure. But the older ones? Nah.

But I’m not looking for an echo of what I just said, so by all means if anyone wants to disagree with me, by all means! I don’t get a chance to talk about trek outside of the internet and I’d love to hear other takes on them.

Edit: and only after posting did I realize you meant the FANS aren’t that different, but you do go on to say the shows are pretty consistent so I’ll leave this here.
