DF Retro has never disappointed. If I remember correctly, they literally yeeted someone off Game Sack to help do the retro content. Could be wrong about that though.
Check out GameHut for sure! Same kinda stuff made by the guy behind Sonic 3d Blast and Sonic R
One of the main editors/writers left the series
I love both of them! They’re both so warm. 8 bit guy just seems like the nicest guy you’d ever meet
Modern Vintage Gamer and GameHunt are both God tier channels made by old developers. MVG is ran by someone who was huge into console modding and emulation for a while. GameHut is ran by the owner of Travelers Tales, better known for Sonic 3d Blast, Sonic R, and the Lego Star Wars series. Both great channels
Not retro, but I sold my Nintendo DS, and copy of Platinum and Heart Gold for like $30 in high school. Probably got McDonald’s with the money. I regret it so much.
RetroArch with a different front end
Yeah, funny enough it really sounds like Sega pulled a PS3 more than anything with the Saturn. The hardware was simply more powerful than the PS1 from what I’ve read. However, Sega made it so that polygons were drawn with 4 sides instead of 3. This made for wasteful calculations. It was an early idea in 3d computing and Sega backed the wrong horse and it was brutal for devs. Compare this to Sony who (comparatively) made such great tools for development that a well trained chimp could probably make one. It was never going to be a fair battle.
I’ve gotten a lot of hate for saying this but Goldeneye is probably the worst aged game held up in such high regard. The most “nostalgia goggled” I guess. It is what it is, it’s a console FPS from before Halo, they were just wonky back then. But N64 controls on goldeneye border on unplayable for anybody that didn’t play it as a kid.
