I feel like the issue with Discovery is that it just shoe-horns in an overproduced and under considered last 2 episodes every season in the name of “stakes”.
Whatever his sexuality
It’s plain and simple. He’s pretty forward about that.
Oh, Mark comes up a few times. We eventually learn that he got married sometime after Starfleet gave up on Voyager being found.
Lt. Frye: “I’d like to perofkr a level 3 diagnostic on the primary buffer panel.”
Cptn. Reynolds: “Make it shiny.”
He wears a disguise
Ocarina of Time, or Final Fantasy VII. Both of them had just incredible impacts on me as a teenager, and I’d love to be 16 and experiencing them for the first time again.
Much not.
Wow.
In a word? No.
I honestly think the soft-reboot in season 3 signals that they have no interest in that. There were a lot of really interesting things from DIS season 1 that I don’t think the current producers will touch them again after the mixed feedback from fans. Lorca, Ash Tyler, the Klingon internal politics of the 22nd century… There are a lot of interesting plot hooks there, but I can’t picture any of them being tugged on given how the Kurtzman shows have evolved.
Damn I miss Lorca. What a great character. One of Trek’s best foils. It’s such a shame that they’ll probably never revisit the whole Lorca situation.
Importantly, too, Janeway had a responsibility to Tuvok. He was saveable, and his last will and testiment almost certainly said something along the lines of “Do not integrate my mind, body, DNA, or essence into Nelix under any circumstances.”
I personally really like the changes to cantrip damage. I know this is a spicy topic, but I GM for children, and the core truth is just that “more dice = more fun”. Anything that gets them digging into the dice bag is a boost to enjoyment.
Back at the attacking ship, obviously!
