I do a lot of photography and I share it on my deviant art page.

It’s SFW, don’t worry.

  • It was a very long day that started with a nice easy plan that quickly turned into “Which POS part is preventing this thing from working”

Fun fact it was the motherboard. Though it wasn’t a consistent issue sometimes it was RAM failing, sometimes it was pcie not working, sometimes it was networking not working, etc. After swapping the motherboard everything worked beautifully.

Yes we tried reseating the CPU, yes we checked for bent pins, yes we made sure the cables were secure. Something was fucky with the motherboard.

  • I’ve used mine for a lot of stuff really

Weaken adhesive for opening a cell phone (like your picture)

Revive a Nexus 5X long enough to patch it and transfer the data off of it (a really frustrating process BTW)

Heat treat resin prints (place print in box, set box on bed, set bed to 80C, come back in an hour, turn bed off, wait for it to hit ambient, remove box) this process is great for hollowed prints as not only will it cause and trapped alcohol to evaporate out but it will further cure the part and increase the durability of the part as well (CNC Kitchen has a great vid on it)

Keep my coffee warm while I was building and setting up a NAS for a friend

  • Do you have the correct thermister type set in the firmware? If there’s a reporting difference that could be why. (This one bit me on my first 3D printer rebuild, now I’m way more vigilant about it)

Without a nozzle installed are you able to push the filament through the hot end? (This one bit me on one of my printers due to faulty hot end and there being a piece of metal partially obstructing the filament path. Sucked to diagnose but was an easy fix once it was found)

Is everything on the hot end tightened down still? (This one bit me a few weeks ago after a couple bolts on my hot end worked themselves lose after months of use)

Is your extruder still functional gripping the filament? If it can’t grip properly (or is jamming) this can cause clogging issues.

  • Usually I can see it start settling while it’s mixing but it doesn’t fully settle during mixing

Usually I’ll be able to see a noticeable difference in 24 hours but I’m actually not fully sure

If I don’t notice it settled enough within a couple weeks I’ll add a bit more concentrated alum solution to each settling container and shake the hell out of it

But in general having one container worth of alcohol settling while the other one is able to use is a good idea because settling can take awhile if the alum solution isn’t very concentrated

Edit: By concentrated alum solution I mean like 25 grams per 100ml of distilled water, it should fully dissolve before you add it to the alcohol.
