What did you to move the curtains?
What did you to move the curtains?
OG Xbox with the OG Blade UI and an OG Full Sized controller. Modded and loaded with emulators will it play nearly anything.
Nice idea! It appears that this can now be done directly in the automation too.
Of course that leads to a problem where it will only trigger once an hour no matter what, which may cause a different frustration.
I’m starting to think that the best answer may be to re-position the motion sensor so that it cannot see my landscaping whipping around in the wind.
I didn’t know that the timer helper existed, I’ll check that out!
To me this automation seems much better suited to using the Node-RED addon.
Node Red is a decent suggestion but I’m not currently using it and I’d prefer not to add it just to handle this one thing. Someone else suggested some logic to handle the cool down and I can put the wind speed directly into the automation as a condition.
Keep in mind though, any kind of rate limiting/cool down makes it more likely that the lights won’t turn on when you actually want them to.
Yeah, that’s an issue. I’m thinking that instead of a cool down it would be a better solution to either install a motion sensor into a position where it can’t see the shrubbery whipping around in the wind OR to create a separate automation for nights with High Wind that just pins the lights on at 50%.
That’s a good suggestion, I’ll have to think on that one.
That’s a fair idea and I’ll consider it!
Thank you for the suggestions. I’ve decided that matching fixtures are what’s most important to me so I’ll be going with Option 1, basically what you just described.
I punted my SmartThings hub earlier this year and am now “hub free”. It’s going to stay that way too because I don’t trust any of these companies to leave my things and data alone.
I’ve heard that the Hue bulbs lose some functionality or control when you transition them over to Zigbee. Can you comment on that?
I’m currently all Z-Wave and I’d prefer to keep it that way. There’s nothing wrong with Zigbee I just settled on Z-Wave in the beginning and it’s my opinion that the simpler the setup the more reliable it will be; that’s why whatever camera(s) I end up with will be PoE. Less protocols, less interfaces, less problems. :)
Reolink’s integration with HA and willingness to play nice with Local NVRs is precisely why they are the top of my list for cameras so I’m glad to hear that you’ve had good luck with them!
Fair comment. I’ll skip the Hue sensor though because off their recent shenanigans. What do you use for a camera?
Good info! I’d want the HA integration because I won’t use anything that requires cloud access, at least not past the initial setup. That means the RL mobile app and notifications won’t work unless I use push them through HA.
That’s the kind of information I was looking for, thanks!
You can add the SkyConnect module to it for $30 and get Zigbee 3.0 + Matter/Threads.
Yeah, they just tagged it like another piece of luggage and sent it down the line.
Huh, maybe my secure (pistol) traveling cases are smaller than yours. I guess my larger fitted one could go on a conveyor belt okay but my smaller one would easily be lost if it wasn’t inside something else. Every airline has different rules though so the difference could also be that you are flying SouthWest while I’m normally on United / Frontier.
I don’t remember any part of the check in process where I would have been able to put the case back in with the rest of my luggage.
That’s odd. I’ve flown with a pistol several times and it’s always been the other way around. After TSA does their check the locked pistol case gets put back inside a piece of my checked luggage. What have they done with yours? Just tossed it on the conveyor belt like its another piece of luggage?
My wife will be flying quite a bit for the next few months and after reading this article I broke down and ordered some Tile Pro’s for her to use.
What are you referring to when you say "when can we use the weather forecast on our dashboards? "
I’ve probably got the simplest and most “Out of the Box” dashboard stuff going on you can imagine and I’ve got forecast data showing with automations that run against it. What am I missing?
