Or even better - start using Docker already.

Try to use ChatGPT in your own application before you talk nonsense, ok?
People need to realise what LLMs actually are. This is not AI, this is a user interface to a database. Instead of writing SQL queries and then parsing object output, you ask questions in your native language, they get converted into queries and then results from the database are converted back into human speech. That’s it, there’s no AI, there’s no magic.
FreeCAD is a ridiculous mess. The only way forward for the project is to dump the code base and start from scratch.
I’m getting disappointed in F360 as well, but existing open source alternatives are pure cancer. Basically, I’ve started making my own open source CAD. Hope to release some basic POC in a month or two.
It’s such a bad piece of software I just don’t get how people can use it…
Yes. Also deleting a design puts it into a rubbish bin indefinitely and you can restore them at any time.
Infrastructure as a service is literally the definition of a cloud. Everything is just bells and whistles.
I tested it on a fixed nut to make sure it will fit the the job I had to do. That’s all.
You can click export and save F3D file locally. Then you can delete it from the cloud and open a different file from your PC. I have dozens of the designs saved locally.
Must be a new feature, good to know.
PLA
Can you apply them to your drawings/sketches?
FreeCAD is pretty much useless, it still doesn’t have basic modelling features like fillets, chamfers, etc.
10 project limit is in F360 for years now. Also who cares when you can save/open local files?
For me the purpose of the cloud is the ability to deploy my projects on rented infrastructure independently of the provider. Tools like Terraform and Kubernetes help with the abstraction of providers.
As for proprietary features I prefer to use open source alternatives like Supabase, which I then can deploy to any cloud and migrate between clouds if needed.
Have you actually used anything cloud? Because there’s literally no friction to move things around. Unless you decide to use proprietary features.
I didn’t even know that natural keys exist. Who is using them and why?
