The linked announce has a pretty good overview
It is a valuable cue to immediately distinguish encrypted from plaintext.
Don’t we already have that?

Oh
This question makes me feel like a fanboi because I think they’re doing great. And I don’t understand the fuss about the ad: I thought it was excellent. I understand the words of people who are offended but that does t mean I understand why they are offended - it was a fun commercial, on point for squeezing all those creativity tools into one very thin package
Holy crap, who is writing all this?
For us, the News app always did both. There was some amount of free content or you could subscribe to the News+ service and presumably others. Those release notes don’t include anything that looks like that changed, but I’ve been subscribed for years so can only see that use case
Actually the one thing that has tempted me to stop is when other services include articles that are clearly just adds to subscribe to them. I’m not paying for an ad service, but Apple has in general kept it legit
It was cool. There’s a reason the hydraulic process Chanel was wildly possible, it’s just cool to watch. And this ad idea was perfect for getting across the point that the new iPad is thinner, so it seems well thought out.
What are these people even complaining about anyway, CGI instruments getting crushed? wtf? I imagine that’s even part of the the ad: look at the CGI we can create, all in a much thinner package
Not exactly the same, but I use the RM-4 with a mini-split AC in place of the remote, and it has worked well for years. You do have to place it somewhere line of site for the ir blaster but it has a very wide range
Setup was choosing a make a model, and everything mapped perfectly. In my case, it even reads the status and current temperature.
The one feature that I haven’t gotten around to trying is line power. I hate using batteries. However RM-4 also had a section on powering it directly that I wanted to try. In my case I have an Ecobee thermostat that I think I can grab power off of, and just mount the RM-4 on the wall right next to. However the batteries have lasted years so I never got around to it
EDIT: or maybe not. I have a Remotec RM-4. I don’t know if it is an ancestor to the Broadlink with the same name, but it’s a beige box. It’s local-only, with no WiFi or app
It’s been years since I had a disk player that was not a game console. However last year I helped my kids build gaming computers, so my ex got the disk players
This is so cool. I want to play Atari on my Apple TV
And of course you said “sorry but I can’t do that right now” and went on with your life , rather than jumping down his throat, then holding a grudge for 11 months?
So is the real analogy …
You gave some old clothes to charity, expecting nothing back. However you spotted a lawyer wearing your old clothes so walked up and demanded money?
If someone abuses my bug tracker to act like a clown
From what little we know, it looks like they used it correctly
I have every right to decline their support requests
Priority is guidance from the user. The maintainer always has the decision how they’ll respond. You could have said you don’t have time, you could have said it’s on my queue to look at later, you could have said you don’t provide support.
Ok, this time I read the full ticket, so ….
I love to hate on Microsoft too, but I only see one asshole here
Maybe OP didn’t share enough context, because this whole thing looks like a big over-reaction on their part.
So what’s going on here? With the information given, Microsoft did what they should have and OP is acting the huge asshole
How long ago did you pull the module? I see dependency updates March 16
Anyone else feel me on this? I imagine this is a problem for other communities on Lemmy as well.
Ok, I’ll bite … as always, it’s a problem with too little content on Lemmy. Certain other social media platforms have so much content that you have to stay in your lane if you’re going to follow it all. However Lemmy is still too small for many specialized communities. Of course many of us will just browse all. The answer, as always, is continued growth.
Circling back to the Community’s purpose, I dislike the frequent logouts in Lemmy. I don’t know if there’s something about browsing from iPad on Safari, but sometimes it’s just too annoying to keep logging in again, so I’m stuck browsing all until something warrants a reply.
I vaguely remember a privacy thing that IOS would periodically modify its appearance online to reduce tracking: could we be running afoul of that? Granted, it’s a pretty vague memory that I’m clutching at
I can believe it, because of how integrated everything is at Apple. You probably need to bring a lot of iCloud support over (App Store, backups, apis), but that may also require supporting applications and configurations
I don’t know if it’s true for cheap ones off Ali Express, but I always look for “appliance” plugs, as that will be easily searchable. Usually it means a 20a (in US) rated relay.
Actually, in reference to the other poster’s discussion about halogen lights, I did the same there. I have a set of halogen lights that’s pretty much at the threshold for common smart switches/receptacles/plugs, so used an “appliance switch” with a 20a rated relay, so I never head to worry about it. It’s really not worth going cheap for things that plug in
True. Hopefully that level of detail will soon come from beta testers
