I’ve just been uploading directly through Lemmy. Some people use imgur or catbox.moe, I think, but there’s a specific way you have to link it.

I don’t really use any myself, but I wish I had a good suggestion. Obviously Imgur, reddit and YouTube exist but have their own issues (but, not weird spam ad redirects, just persistent spying). Perhaps YouTube but link to one of the YouTube anonymizers?
