Didn’t get to play much of Octopath Traveler this week, though plan to continue it again this weekend. Instead spent some time playing Hotel Hustle with the kid.

Wasn’t interested in the game initially, but saw the SwitchUp review and got it to play co-op with my SO and kids. It’s solo or two-player co-op only, and fun to play even with casual gamers.

Most of the time was still spent with Kingdom Come: Deliverance, I have started exploring other towns near the starting one, and doing the side missions. Really enjoying it. The sense of progression is good, and you feel yourself rising the ranks from a commoner to a Knight. Still pretty early in the game though, have only done a few main missions.

What about all of you? What have you been playing lately? Also feel free to ask for, or share your game recommendations.

    Finished Drainus!

Early comments on the previous post.

I rank it slightly below my favorites in this genre (mainly the ones from Cave or Treasure), but this is a great shoot’em up and a very good option for people getting started in this style of game - it features a (minimal) storyline, saves and checkpoints, and it’s nowhere near as hard as the usual “bullet hell” game. There’s some fun experimentation you can do with the upgrade system too, though I felt the game got quite easy once I unlocked a few upgrades and figured out a good loadout.

There are some small annoyances including a somewhat clunky upgrade menu and one specific boss, but nothing really major, I definitely recommend this game for people interested in this genre.

    Minor storyline spoiler

The game has 6 stages but you’re required to go through them twice to get the real ending, which is a throwback to older games of this genre which often featured a harder “second loop”.

And it’s kinda neat how they tied the second loop to the storyline.

Playing Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney - Spirit of Justice, part of the Apollo Justice: Ace Attorney Trilogy!

Well, I was right last week about Maya getting in trouble again. Case 3 was long and intense, stakes felt high, and there were some really good twists to the formula. I also loved finally seeing the classic Phoenix+Maya team together again, but now older and more more mature.
